CHARACTER CREATION

Players wishing to create their own characters for use in this campaign can use the character creation rules found here.

If you want to bring your own miniature to use in play, that will be helpful and fun. Miniatures need not be painted.

I will also have a selection of pre-generated characters and miniatures for use, too.

Characters are 2nd level if single-classed or level 1/1 for dual or multi-classed characters.

As play goes on in the campaign, new characters can enter at higher levels, and rules for boosting a character to the current campaign level will be posted below.

All characters are created using the rules below:

Generating Ability Scores: Method VI from page 13 of the Player’s Handbook will be used. Please show where the 7 d6 points were added on your character’s sheet.

Adjust for racial modifiers after placing your points. Don’t forget about racial minimum and maximum scores.

Fighters, Rangers, and Paladins with an “18” Strength score roll d100 for exceptional Strength.

………………………………..

Hit Points: Maximum at 1st level, then roll normally at each other level. Re-roll "1"s. Adjust for any Constitution modifiers.

……………………………….

Classes Allowed: All from the Player’s Handbook as well as Specialty Priests from the Forgotten Realms Adventures book and Elemental Wizards from Tome of Magic. (The “House Rules” section has information on Elemental Wizards.)

………………………………..

Races Allowed: All from the Player’s Handbook as well as Half-Orcs from the Complete Humanoids book. (See the “House Rules” section for information on Half-Orcs.) Avareiel (winged elves) are also allowed, and there is a section on them in the “House Rules” area.

Elves can be moon elves (grey elves) or gold elves (high elves). This is more a matter of appearance and roleplaying. Likewise, half elves can have any of these sub-races as their elven parent. They can also have drow as their elven side, but this offers no additional benefits.

………………………………..

Weapon Specialization is available to fighters only.

………………………………..

Non-Weapon Proficiencies are used in this campaign. Besides those fro the Player’s Handbook, I will allow characters to use those from Dragon Magazine. Copies of articles where these NWPs are described are available from me.

………………………………..

Alignments: Any except evil and Chaotic Neutral are allowed for player characters.

…………………………………

Starting Money: 2d8 GPs, 2d10 SPs, 2d12 CPs.

Starting Equipment: All characters can have any basic equipment, armor, weapons, etc., listed in the Player’s Handbook. Plate Mail armor is not available to PCs at this time.

Wizards can start with spells from the Player’s Handbook or, if they are an Elemental Wizard, from the Player’s Handbook and the Tome of Magic.

Select six 1st-level spells for inclusion in your character’s spellbook, and assume he/she knows how to cast all of them.

CHARACTER NAME, GENDER, APPEARANCE, PERSONALITY, and BACKGROUND:

The player decides these things, within boundaries as described in the Player’s Handbook and Forgotten Realms source books.

I may not have a miniature that looks identical (or even slightly similar) to the character you envision, but we’ll make do. If you have a miniature you’d like to bring to the table, all the better. Miniatures need not be painted.
